UPDATE: CANCELLED–Volunteer day on the Glenwood Horse Trail, Virginia March 28th

March 28 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

We have cancelled this event to ensure the safety of our staff and volunteers. We will reschedule once the risks of coronavirus transmission are reduced and CDC restrictions are lifted. Thanks, stay safe, friends.  –SAWS team

Please join us on March 28th to clear blowdowns out of the Glenwood Horse Trail in Thunder Ridge Wilderness near Natural Bridge, VA. See the flyer above for details, below is the gist. We hope to see you out there!

When: March 28th 9:30 am-4:00 pm

Where: Thunder Ridge Wilderness, meet at Petite’s Gap off the Blue Ridge Parkway (Mile Post~70)

What to wear and bring: Please wear sturdy hiking boots and long pants. Bring extra layers, rain gear, enough water for the day, lunch and snacks. SAWS will provide training and Personal Protective Equipment

Why: Volunteers are needed to help SAWS Rangers open up the Glenwood Horse Trail after storms have knocked trees down across the trail. They’ll learn how to safely use crosscut saws and help equestrian visitors gain access to the trail again!

RSVP required: Please contact Wilderness Ranger, Tao at [email protected] for further information and to RSVP.
